There is a long-standing border dispute between India and China over the northeastern Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh. Both countries claim sovereignty over the region. The McMahon Line, drawn by British colonial administrators in 1914, serves as the de facto border according to India. However, China rejects the McMahon Line and claims most of Arunachal Pradesh as part of its territory, which it refers to as “South Tibet.”
