In December 2010, Mohamed Bouazizi started a self-immolation series of Protests and Uprisings in Tunisia which is known as the Arab Spring movement; a street vendor who set himself on fire in protest of police corruption and mistreatment. It was his act of hopelessness and public outrage that initiated protests across the Arab world, calling for political reform, economic justice, and an end to authoritarian rule.
